Slave to the Clock
I used to wake up early to go to work, and I used to always say : Why do we have to get up, and give someone else our precious time ? We all have different reasons on why we do what we do. It all depends on your background our perspectives will always be different, but it seems like the one thing we have in common is how we all became slaves to the clock.
“Some say that time doesn’t exist, but clock exist because time is an agreed upon construct. We have taken distance divided into segments, then give those segments names, titles or labels. While it has it’s uses we have been programmed to live our lives by this construct as if it were real. We have confused our shared construct with something that is tangible and thus have become it’s slave.”
Unconsciously we follow the last person before us, we become to feel like its normal until someone come and tell us that it is wrong. Now by listening to that person, we become confused. It’s impossible how can it be wrong ? this is what everybody does ! well that’s the problem.
Now let’s think about a normal morning that you have to go to work. 5 in the morning your alarm rings. You have to start your morning routine, knowing that by 7 oclock you have to be out of the house to be at work by 9 am just to not catch traffic if you live far. This is your typical morning routine now just by looking at how to morning starts, you can see that the clock is in charge because it is leading your actions. If you make a mistake, or you decide to drag a little you will be late and your day will be ruined. Now tell me why should your day be ruined because you have decided to be a human being by stepping out of the hamster wheel ?
The theory on how you shouldn't “serve two masters” makes a lot of sense here. I don’t care how much you love your job, no matter how you slice it or dice it. You are a slave and that is the bottom line, you have to go by what they say otherwise you will lose your job and all the nice things that you rent on a monthly payment. Now because you want to have all these nice things that you see on commercials, you have to wake up to go give your precious time to your master for some money to play with.
Now I can really see how giving someone else your precious time can do to your soul. You are repeating empty wishes, look in the mirror ask yourself:
Are you happy doing what you don’t like?
Are you happy stressing every morning?
If your answer is no, you have to find a way to make you feel good before you go give your time to someone or a facility that doesn't care about you.
In conclusion, if you do what you love nothing else matters. If you are just working because you have to, I promise you one day you will be miserable if you are not already. Don’t forget, you will never be happy serving two masters.
